Show or hide guides on the workspace indicating how the map or workspace is split across pages.
Print range
Choose Workspace to include all maps and boxes for printing or preview, or Map to include only the selected map.
Print zoom level
Set the zoom level used for printing.
Choose 'Fit to Page' to fit the selected map or workspace to a single page. All other zoom options will split the map or workspace onto multiple pages if necessary.
Page margins
Set the page margins (in millimetres) used for printing.

Overview
Show/hide locked headings (Ctrl+L)
Show or hide the locked headings of boxes.
While locked headings cannot be edited, they can be shown or hidden across a workspace using this feature.
To edit a selected box's heading, uncheck 'Lock Heading' in the right-click menu. After editing, lock the heading again to include it when you show or hide locked headings across the workspace.
Show/hide map references
Show or hide map references for all boxes across the workspace.
Each map reference contains a number, indicating the box's level in its map, and a letter, indicating the box's position on its level.
Show Connecting Words
Show or hide the connecting words which indicate whether a box is a reason, objection or rebuttal.
In Reasoning maps, these are the "Because" and "But" labels which read down to connect two claims.
In Advanced Reasoning mode, these are the "Supports" and "Opposes" labels which read up to connect two claims.
Show Evaluation Shading
Show or hide the visual emphasis used to display evaluations.
Visual emphasis includes shading, line colour, and line thickness.
If you have not made any evaluations yet, you may not see any effect when selecting this button.
Show evaluation markers
Show or hide the markers used to display evaluations.
If you have not made any evaluations yet, you may not see any effect when clicking on this button.

Map Overview On
Turn the map overview window on. The overview will always be displayed.
Map Overview Off
Turn the map overview window off. The overview will never be displayed.
Map Overview Automatic
Turn the map overview window to automatic. The overview will only appear when the workspace is too big to fit on the screen.
Default Building Panel
Choose which group of templates is opened by default when the editor loads.
Reset preferences
Set all preferences back to their default settings.
This affects all settings throughout Rationale.
Search (Ctrl+F)
Search for text in the workspace and jump between occurrences.
Note: currently hidden text is excluded from the search.
Print (Ctrl+P)
Creates a PDF of the selected map or workspace. You can also select whether the whole workspace is printed, or just a particular map.

Reject the Item/Contention
Use this when you reject the item/contention or consider it to be false.

Remove the evaluation applied to a box.

Remove evaluations from all boxes in the currently selected map.

Change Map
Change the map type
Change to Grouping (Ctrl+Shift+1)
Change the selected map to a Grouping map.
Note that in doing this you may lose some information, such as whether a box is a reason or an objection.
This action can be undone, in which case the information is recovered.
Change to Reasoning (Ctrl+Shift+2)
Change the selected map to a Reasoning map.
Note that in doing this you may lose some information, such as multiple premises in an Advanced Reasoning map will become separated reasons.
This action can be undone, in which case the information is recovered.
Change to Advanced Reasoning (Ctrl+Shift+3)
Change the selected map to an Advanced Reasoning map.
Note that in doing this, Rationale has to add information, e.g., treating each item in a Grouping map as a reason.

Trim map
Trim the selected map.
This removes any extra white space in the boxes. It is helpful when you want to make a map more compact.
Flip Map (Ctrl+Alt+O)
Change the orientation of the currently selected map.
Orientations: * Top-to-bottom (default setting for all maps) * Left-to-right (unavailable in Advanced Reasoning mode)

Undo (Ctrl+Z)
Undo the action just taken.
By clicking on this multiple times, you can retrace the steps you took to reach the current situation.
Redo (Ctrl+Y)
Redo the action that was just undone.
Cut Branch (Ctrl+X)
Cut the whole branch and put it on the clipboard. The branch is the selected box plus all boxes beneath it on the map.
Copy (Ctrl+C)
Copy the selected box with any attached boxes and place it on the clipboard.

Paste the contents of the clipboard.

Move to the next map on the workspace, and adjust the zoom level so that it fits neatly into the window.
Map order within the workspace is left to right, top to bottom. Maps consisting of a single box are ignored.
